Each Calm Water Pools fiberglass pool shell kit comes with:
One skimmer
Two main drains
up to
Three returns
(All above items are silicone sealed and installed at the factory)
Skimmer
The plumbing of the skimmer is connected to the pool’s pump which creates suction that pulls water into the skimmer’s mouth. Larger debris such as leaves, twigs, bugs, or even clumps of dog hair will then travel over the weir and be captured by the basket that is nested within the skimmer.
Main Drains
DUAL MAIN DRAINS: There are two main drain pots plumbed to each other with a “T” fitting. The main drain is an outlet that runs to the pump which sucks water through the drain covers back to the pump then through a filter and then back to the pool.
Manufacturers dig sheet
Each kit comes with the manufacturer’s dig sheet that details the exact size, shape and depth of the excavation.
Shipping
Delivery is coordinated for sites in Maryland, Washington DC, and Northern Virginia. You are responsible for arranging unloading of the shell from the truck. You have one hour to do so. Your contractor will typically coordinate unloading equipment. For spas, a few workers can easily lift the shell off the truck. For off-season protection after delivery or installation, consider our Inground Pool Winter Safety Covers.

How Fiberglass Pool Shell Selection & Procurement Works
If you’ve never gone through the process of selecting and procuring a fiberglass pool shell, here’s a clear picture of what to expect when you work with Calm Water Pools.
Step 1: Select Your Pool Shell Model
The first step is choosing the right fiberglass pool shell for your space. We walk you through the available models — comparing shapes, dimensions, depth profiles, built-in features like tanning ledges and bench seating, and finish options. We help you match the right shell to your backyard layout, intended use, and aesthetic goals. Getting the model selection right at this stage prevents costly changes later.
Step 2: Choose Your Options & Add-Ons
Once you’ve selected a model, we help you configure your shell with the options that matter most to you — shell color and finish upgrades, LED lighting packages, perimeter and inlaid tile selections, and cascading water features. Each of these choices is made before the shell is manufactured, so there’s no rushing at the end.
Step 3: Coordinate Procurement
We coordinate the procurement of your fiberglass pool shell — managing the ordering process so that the shell is manufactured to your exact specifications. Each shell kit includes a skimmer, dual main drains, up to three returns, and the manufacturer’s dig sheet. All plumbing fittings are silicone sealed and installed at the factory before shipment.
Step 4: Arrange Delivery to Your Site
We coordinate delivery of your pool shell to your project site in Maryland, Washington DC, Northern Virginia, or nearby West Virginia. You’ll want to have your independent contractor on-site to handle unloading — you have one hour from truck arrival to complete unloading, and your contractor will typically arrange the appropriate unloading equipment.
Step 5: Your Contractor Takes It From There
Once the shell is on your property, your independently hired contractor handles all excavation, installation, plumbing, electrical work, and any associated trades. Calm Water Pools’ role ends at delivery. Your contractor works directly with you — and uses the manufacturer’s dig sheet included in your kit to guide precise excavation and placement.

What exactly does Calm Water Pools do?
We help homeowners in Maryland, Washington DC, Northern Virginia, and nearby West Virginia select the right fiberglass pool shell model, coordinate procurement of the shell, and arrange delivery to the project site. We do not perform excavation, installation, plumbing, electrical work, or any construction. Those services are performed by qualified independent contractors hired directly by the homeowner.
Who installs the pool shell once it’s delivered?
Installation is performed by qualified independent contractors hired directly by you, the homeowner. We do not provide installation services, nor do we refer or manage contractors on your behalf. Your contractor will handle excavation, shell placement, plumbing, electrical, and all finish work.
What fiberglass pool shells do you help homeowners procure?
We help homeowners select and procure fiberglass pool shells manufactured by Latham Pool Products. Latham offers a wide range of shapes, sizes, and configurations — from smaller plunge-style pools to larger family swimming pools with tanning ledges, bench seating, and integrated steps.
What comes included with the pool shell kit?
Each fiberglass pool shell kit includes one skimmer, dual main drains, up to three returns, and the manufacturer’s dig sheet. All plumbing fittings are silicone sealed and installed at the factory before the shell ships. Optional upgrades — including shell color finishes, LED lighting packages, perimeter and inlaid tile, and cascading water features — can be added at the time of ordering.
Do I need to have a contractor lined up before contacting you?
You don’t need a contractor in place before reaching out to us — but you will need one before delivery. We recommend identifying and hiring your independent contractor early in the process so they can review the manufacturer’s dig sheet, plan excavation, and be ready to coordinate unloading when your shell arrives.
What is the service area for delivery?
We coordinate delivery to project sites in Maryland, Washington DC, Northern Virginia, and nearby West Virginia. If you’re outside this area, please contact us to discuss your situation.
How long does the procurement and delivery process take?

Can I add LED lighting, tile, or water features to my shell?
Yes. Shell color upgrades, LED lighting packages, perimeter and inlaid tile, and cascading water features are all available as add-ons at the time of ordering. Lighting holes and housing are installed at the factory when a lighting package is selected — your contractor then completes the electrical connection on-site.
What if I’m ordering a rectangular pool with an electric cover?
If you’re ordering a rectangular pool shell and plan to install an electric cover, please specify that the skimmer should be mounted on the side wall of the shell. The hole will be cut at the factory but the skimmer will not be pre-installed, due to shipping requirements.
