Your pool opening… finally!

At the end of last season, we talked about the details of your pool closing. The reverse process is pretty much the same to open your pool. Here are some details:
Every pool is unique in terms of what is needed. Take an inventory of your:
- Chlorine tablets and chlorine shockÂ
- pH increaser and decreaser
- Alkalinity and calcium increaserÂ
- Cyanuric Acid or stabilizerÂ
- DE Powder or Aqua PerlÂ
- Algaecides, Clarifiers, EnzymesÂ
- Test kit reagents or test strips
- Metal and mineral control or stain removersÂ
Now, for your pool equipment… inspect the deck, pool, tools, and supplies including all equipment to confirm you have all the items you need to open your pool quickly and successfully. Take note of this to-do list and have a fun season!
- Inspect pool cover for holes or winter damageÂ
- Install filter system drain plugs and pressure gauge
- Test pump motor briefly for a few seconds
- Check pool lights briefly for a few secondsÂ
- Lube pump lid and filter o-rings with Teflon lubricantÂ
- Inspect pool cleaning tools; pole, brush, nets, vacÂ
- Inspect filter, pump, heater, chlorinator for damageÂ
- Inspect pool cleaner for worn and torn partsÂ
- Inspect skimmer baskets, and lids
